To prevent unauthorized access to your device, always lock your session when stepping away and set up automatic locks after a period of inactivity.
Windows
- To enable automatic lock after inactivity:
- Open the Start menu and search for “Screen Saver Settings.”
- In the Screen Saver Settings window, check the option “On resume, display logon screen.”
- To manually lock your session:

Press Windows Key + L, or

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and select Lock.

Apple macOS
- Go to System Preferences, then click on Security & Privacy.
- Under the General tab, check the option “Require password” after sleep or screen saver begins.
To manually lock your session:

Press Control + Command + Q, or

Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner and select Sleep.
