How to Lock Your Session

To prevent unauthorized access to your device, always lock your session when stepping away and set up automatic locks after a period of inactivity.

Windows

  1. To enable automatic lock after inactivity:
    • Open the Start menu and search for “Screen Saver Settings.”
    • In the Screen Saver Settings window, check the option “On resume, display logon screen.”
  2. To manually lock your session:
    • Press Windows Key + L, or

    • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and select Lock.

Apple macOS

  1.  Go to System Preferences, then click on Security & Privacy.
  2.  Under the General tab, check the option “Require password” after sleep or screen saver begins.

To manually lock your session:

  • Press Control + Command + Q, or

  • Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner and select Sleep.
