Class Resource Activation

Instructors can request additional SEASnet resources for their classes, such as TA accounts, restricted software, and temporary disk space.  Please note the following guidelines.

Restricted Software

  • Access to restricted software must be specifically requested by the instructor or TA of the class for coursework purposes only.
  • Certain software may be restricted due to departmental licensing agreements and may only be available to specific classes.
  • SEASnet reserves the right to deny access to any software we manage.

Software Notes

  • MATLAB is not restricted and does not require a request for access.

TA Account Information

  • TA account access is removed on the Sunday following finals week. Extension requests may be granted at SEASnet’s discretion and must be submitted before finals week ends.
  • TA accounts are reassigned each quarter, and you may not receive the same account for the same class in future terms. Files stored in TA accounts are not guaranteed to be retained. To avoid losing important data, be sure to save any necessary files elsewhere before finals week concludes.

Requesting Additional Class Resources

To request TA accounts or other class resources:

  1. Log in to my.seas.ucla.edu.
  2. From the Home page, select “Class Resource Activation” in the left-hand menu.
  3. Choose the appropriate term (if not already selected).
  4. Complete the form according to your needs.

Important Notes

  • Only the instructor(s) and TA(s) assigned to the course may submit this form.
  • TA accounts can be requested for the following function codes:
    • 01 – Instructor
    • 02 – TA
    • 03 – In-Charge
    • 04 – Reader/Grader
  • By default, accounts are created for function codes 01 (Instructor) and 02 (TA).
  • Submitting the form without additional details will generate TA accounts for all listed instructors and TAs.
  • To request an account for someone not yet listed, resubmit the form after they are officially assigned by the Registrar and appear on the form.

Policy and Usage

TA accounts are intended solely for duties associated with their designated function codes. Instructors are responsible for ensuring compliance with these designations.

Any assignment or performance of duties outside these roles constitutes a violation of UCLA and UAW policies. While SEASnet provisions TA accounts, responsibility for compliance rests entirely with the instructor.

Submission and Processing

After completing the form, click “Submit.” Your request will be sent to SEASnet for processing.

You will receive a confirmation email once your request has been processed.

Note: Access to restricted software for students will only be granted after SEASnet completes processing your request.
