Class Resource Activation

Instructors can use the MyEngineering portal to request additional SEASnet resources for their classes, such as TA accounts, access to restricted software, and temporary disk space. Please note the following guidelines:

Restricted Software

  • Access to restricted software must be specifically requested by the instructor or TA of the class for coursework purposes.
  • Certain software may be restricted due to departmental licensing agreements and may only be available to specific classes.
  • SEASnet reserves the right to deny access to any software we manage.

Software Notes

  • MATLAB is not restricted and does not require a request for access.

TA Account Information

  • TA account access will be removed the Sunday after finals. Requests for extensions may be granted at SEASnet’s discretion.
  • TA accounts are reassigned to new TAs each quarter. Files stored in these accounts are not guaranteed to be retained. If you need to retain files, please ensure they are saved elsewhere before finals week ends.

To activate additional class resources:

  1. Log in to my.seas.ucla.edu.
  2. From the Home page, click “Class Resource Activation” on the left-hand menu.
  3. Select the appropriate term (if not already selected).
  4. Fill out the form based on your needs:
    • By default, submitting the form without additional information will provide a TA account for each listed instructor/TA.
    • Only instructors and TAs listed on this form will receive TA accounts. If a TA is not yet listed, the form must be resubmitted once they are officially listed on the Schedule of Classes.
  5. After completing the form, click “Submit.” Your request will be sent to SEASnet for processing.
  6. You will receive an email from SEASnet once your request has been processed.

Note: Restricted software will only be available to students after SEASnet has processed your request.
